Dr.Rodriguez

Dr. Sylvia Rodriguez is a cataract surgeon and comprehensive ophthalmologist who is passionate about helping patients to optimize their vision by providing high quality eye care in the community.

Dr. Rodriguez was inspired to become an eye surgeon while assisting with surgeries on a missionary ophthalmology trip in Honduras. She started her academic training at the University of Waterloo and then completed her medical school at McMaster University. With a keen interest in ophthalmology, she completed her ophthalmology training at Queen's University in Kingston. She started her medical career in 2009 as an ophthalmologist at Queen's University where she was involved in teaching and training the ophthalmology residents. In 2011, she decided to start a practice in her hometown of Guelph to help serve the community she grew up in and be closer to family.

She has performed thousands of cataract surgeries since 2009. She has a passion for learning and stays on top of the latest innovations and research in the ophthalmic industry. In 2017, she was selected to participate in the Emerging Leaders Program for Canadian ophthalmologists. Dr. Rodriguez is actively involved in leadership through her role as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Guelph General Hospital and as a member of the Provincial Vision Task Force for Ophthalmology in Ontario.
